Single Integrated Air Picture (SIAP)

The Single Integrated Air Picture (SIAP) is described in its System Engineering Management Plan dated 22 July 2002 as follows, “The SIAP is the air track portion of the Common Tactical Picture (CTP) and is the product of fused, common, continual, and unambiguous tracks of airborn objects of interest in the surveillance area. SIAP is derived from real time and near real time data, and consists of correlated air object tracks and associated information. The SIAP uses fused near real time and real time data, scaleable and filterable to support situation awareness, battle management, and target engagements.” VisiTech is providing requirement analysis and test development for the SIAP System Engineering Task Force, SIAP SE TF, Engineering Architecture Branch.

The requirements analysis work is the application of our expertise in the description of engineering problems in the Unified Modeling Language. This language and related tools have evolved to assist in the development of computer software, but VisiTech has applied these to the understanding of systems in general. One example is the Environmental Concept Model, ECM. The ECM was the application of these processes to the understanding of the natural environment parameters and issues associated with simulations.

Our support for the test activities builds on both the system engineering work described above and our experience in software development. The development environment of the SIAP SE TF Engineering Architecture Branch employs the concepts of Model Driven Architecture, MDA, and that of Executable UML. The test environment developed must be applicable to these concepts and provide traceability from concept development, requirements and use cases to the final implementation. VisiTech is building on concept modeling and system engineering experience with UML to provide a broad base of support to the SIAP SE TF in the area of object oriented analysis, design and testing.
